Submitting DOT Medical Certificate to North Carolina DMV

How to Submit DOT Medical Certificate to NC DMV

How to Submit DOT Medical Certificate to NC DMV

CDL drivers and non CDL drivers in North Carolina are required to submit their DOT physical exam to the North Carolina DMV. Many drivers often ask what to do after they’ve passed the DOT physical exam.  Our Charlotte chiropractor is a medical examiner registered with FMCSA.  Our office is required to register your medical DOT physical certificate with the FMCSA.  However, the over the road truck driver is responsible for sending a copy of the DOT medical certificate to the North Carolina DMV.

How do you submit your medical certificate to the DMV of North Carolina?  Just follow these quick tips provided by the FMCSA website.  It can be a little challenging collecting all the right information to send your new DOT medical certificate to the NC DMV.  The FMCSA has made it easier for you by providing all the information you need.  As a CDL driver or non CDL driver, you have several options to choose from.  You can either email, fax, mail, or hand deliver your DOT medical certificate to the NC DMV.  There is a specific time frame, however.  If the CDL driver or non CDL driver fails to send a copy of their DOT medical certificate in time, they may be downgraded to a non-CDL.

North Carolina DMV accepts your DOT medical certificate via mail, here is the following address:

CDL Medical Certification Unit

3126 Mail Service Center

Raleigh, NC 27699-3126

You can also send your DOT certificate the NC DMV by email to cdlmedical@ncdot.gov.

Of course, you can hand deliver your DOT certificate to your local NCDMV office.

Whichever way you decide to send it, make sure you submit your DOT certificate within the time frame provided by the NCDMV.
